API Invest & Finanz AG (API) is a finance and investment company with a focus on the acquisition and development of young, fast-growing Swiss companies. On the basis of a strategic majority shareholding, API actively supports small and medium-sized companies in their corporate development by providing them with equity and expertise. This raises their creditworthiness and boosts their financial muscle. Here, one of our core skills is the marketing of products and services. In collaboration with the management of the investee company, we develop individual sales structures designed to guarantee the future success of the company. API has a deliberately lean organisational structure with a small number of highly qualified experts from a wide range of branches. This enables the company to react quickly and take fast, uncomplicated decisions.

We see ourselves as a provider of capital and a committed partner that actively supports the company and assists in the development of its operational business. We are therefore far more than simply a source of equity. With comprehensive experience and broad-based know-how, we help our companies during the investment period by taking on administrative and management tasks and through the provision of financial services. The young, forward-looking companies in particular often lack the necessary experience for carefully targeted development which we contribute.

We therefore provide added value. Added value for the entrepreneurs but also added value for our investors. Through our active supervision, we simultaneously ensure that we have a controlling insight into the development of our investee companies at all times.

A precondition for API‘s involvement is always clear development and profit potential on the part of the target company. Our investment focus is on small and medium-sized technology and growth companies with an innovative business model. We invest in companies whose products and services give them, or enable them to aspire to, an outstanding position in their respective markets.

API acquires its holdings with a view to the long term and places a special emphasis on financing these acquisitions out of its own funds. One exception is the capital-intensive real estate sector, where finance sometimes involves the use of loan capital. With the partial or complete sale of an interest, the focus is not simply on the return on investment but also on devising an exit scenario that provides the company in question with the best possible prospects for the future.
